Conference Proceedings

All authors of accepted abstracts will be invited to submit (optional) an extended version (extended abstract of max. 4 pages) for evaluation. All accepted short papers after the pre-conference peer-review process will be published as chapters in the conference proceedings by Springer. The registered author(s) of each accepted paper will receive a "Springer Certificate of Acceptance" certifying that the paper has been accepted for publication in the conference proceedings.

The proceedings of the ICES2023 will be published online on 15 April 2023 by Springer. All authors will receive a soft copy of the proceedings shortly after online publication.

The proceedings of the ICES2023 will be made available in the SpringerLink Digital Library that is directly linked to Research Gate and will be published in Springer ASTI series which is indexed in Scopus:

Note that authors of accepted papers in the conference proceedings (after the pre-conference peer review process) who do not plan to attend the ICES2023 should also register before the deadline of 15 January 2023 (see Important Dates).

The proceedings of ICES2023 will comprise of several sections covering all themes of the conference (see Conference Themes). Best and most supportive reviewers will have a higher chance of being selected as Editors of the proceedings. The decision will be made by the Scientific Committee.

Awards

During the conference the best paper selected for each conference theme, as judged by the session conveners, will receive awards (see Conference Themes).

Decisions are based on the following criteria:

  • Originality and newness of contribution
  • Appropriate application of methodology
  • Effective communication of the central ideas of the work, and
  • Usefulness of the research in resolving environmental and/or societal problem(s) for more sustainability

The winning authors will receive the “Springer/ICES2023 Award for Outstanding Paper,” a gift voucher for the amount of 300 euros that can be used to purchase books on SpringerLink, and also a conference bag personalized with the ICES2023 logo and an advertising message “Winner of the best conference paper at ICES2023 – Riyadh 2023.” All the winners will be presented with a commemorative certificate and will be acknowledged during the awards luncheon (Day 3 in the Conference Program).

The most active reviewers and editors will also receive Springer/ICES2023 awards and certificates of appreciation and will be acknowledged during the awards luncheon.

Special Issues

Post conference, the ICES2023 scientific committee aims to publish high-quality topical collections (special issues) on cross-cutting themes from the natural, life and mathematical sciences in collaborating journals (listed below).

Authors of the selected papers will be notified on 20 February 2023 to start preparing an extended version of their proceedings papers or short abstracts (if these were not extended/published in the proceedings) for submission in one of the planned special issues.

All papers will be peer-reviewed through multiple rounds before final acceptance for publication. Authors of the accepted papers can receive upon request an "Acceptance Certificate" from thes ICES2023 scientific committee after publication of each special issue.
